Walls Period | 1983 - 1984
To her, the wall was "like the difficult things in life that are part of it. Here, I felt like I was starting to have a change." Seeking to perfect her pictorial technique, she progressively departs from this primitive style, "I began to paint not only out of necessity, but a search was imposed on me". She digs into the imaginary and into her fantasy to create new themes resulting in still lifes. During this period, Ana María seeks to evolve with other concepts and paints works in which walls always appear, expressing the technical difficulties she needs to overcome. During this time, she painted many fruits, flowers, and insects, especially bees, which symbolize the hard work necessary for success.
In the early eighties, with her walls she breaks with the surface, dividing it into horizontal stripes, following certain visual schemes of the landscape, but without losing the feeling of joy for life. In the small-format fabric, precisely titled Muro, 1983, the artistic concerns and thematic quests that afflicted her are implicit. For her, these walls represented the many difficult circumstances in people’s lives. With a symbolic character, she introduces the walls into the landscapes, sometimes insects appeared that like the bee caught her attention for their laboriousness and order.
